  2. Bonjour, Jamie. I finished the book last night, and it was such a delightful little treat. I loved the narrative style of it, picking up new understandings of yourself and the art of life as you wend your way from one side of the motherland to the other. And it's always so interesting to read the responses of French women to little questionnaires. Tish Jett has them on her blog sometimes. The most provocative answer, I thought, was from Frederique on les femmes d'un certain age. I appreciate your focus on women of a certain age, frankly. I really do love how the French bring artfulness into everything they do, no matter how quotidian and ordinary. I think it's the biggest difference between us and them. Reminds me of a quote I saw online some time ago:

"I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or Party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art."

    How French is that?!

    Amities and bisous,
    Marsi
