A Message from the Beyond

The night after my father passed, I had a dream.

It was a wonderful dream.  In fact, I believe it was more than a dream.  It was a visitation from my father.

I was at a dinner party.  There was a big table and all my friends sat around it.  There were plates piled high with Chinese food.  Broccoli, rice.  Maybe chicken.  It looked and smelled delicious.  Abundant.   I was about to sit down and join my friends, when the door opened and my father walked into the room.  He had a freshly shaven beard and he looked healthy and joyful.

And then, he smiled at me.

However, here's the most surprising part of this dream--he was wearing very stylish gold lamé pajamas.

No, I'm not kidding.

Now in real life, my Dad would never be wearing gold lamé.  That was more of my mother's style.  But there he was, looking fabulous and happy and well, a little flashy, as if he was about to star in a Broadway musicial.

He walked up to me, still smiling.  He leaned in and gave me a little kiss.

And then, I woke up.  But, the dream stayed with me for some moments.  I tried to hold on to it as the early morning light seeped into the the little bedroom window in the back of my father's house, and reality took hold of me.

I asked myself what was the message of the dream?

Things are fun and festive and maybe a little more flashy in the After Life?

People wear gold lamé--even Papa Callan?

He's with my mother and they're swapping outfits?
They have dinner parties?  The food is delicious and you get to meet up with all your friends?

I'm not really sure what a professional dream interpreter would say.  For me, the dream told me that my dad is happy.  And he was giving me the message that I should be happy.

It's quite simple, isn't it?

Be happy.

And today, I am sharing Papa Callan's message with you, creative friends.

This is your assignment for the week:  Be happy.

Yes, yes, yes--be grateful, be kind, be compassionate, be smart, be brilliant, be creative, be generous, be fair and be good.

But don't forget to be happy.

Love,

Jamie
