Here we are in the midst of the election season. Isn't it exciting!? Isn't it a nail-biter? Isn't it crazy-making and scary? Are you losing sleep!?
It's the Best of Times and The Worst of Times. Just like in Dickens' Tale of Two Cities. Oh, but isn't that about the French Revolution? Does this mean we're headed for a revolution?
It's enough to drive you crazy.
Friends, I would like to suggest something radical.
How about if you ignore the current drama?
Honestly, unless you're a famous movie star with good looks to spare, you are probably not going to get your thoughts on the Opinion Pages of the New York Times. Not to sound depressing--there's not much you can do to influence the current tumult leading up to the conventions. And, the worst thing you can do is let it interfere with your own creative work.
So yes, ignore it.
This is not to say it won't infiltrate your dream life, your imagination--it most certainly will. But, if you let your creative self filter out the current noise you will at least protect that tender part of your psyche--the part of you that makes up stories and songs, the part of you that dances spontaneously and cries in the middle of the afternoon. The part of you that needs a nap. And the part of you makes awe-inspiring change, that’s capable of making this world a better place.
But right now, reserve your energy. Don’t let the chatter bring you down.
Creative Friends--Art will always be a salve for troubled times. When we come through this storm, the world will need your genius. So, keep your creative muscles strong and toned and ready for the Age the Aquarius. It’s coming. I promise you.
And in the meantime, be kind to yourself during this Endless Summer.
Peace and love, baby,
Jamie
