I hope you are having a splendid Summer! I have been away from blogging for a bit, but I just had to pop in to let you know that I am half-way through the book, and savoring every delicious word! Oh, Jamie...it is WONDERFUL! I am beginning to look at the world, and myself, with different eyes, I kid you not. Loving the intimate writing style and lovely details of your journey...I can so relate to the story of the striped shirt! :) I don't know why, it has been part of my identity since I was a little girl... What a beautiful gift you have given us in this treasure of a book. To celebrate ourselves...just as we are! What I have always found fascinating about the European man's psyche, is that they have a way of seeing every woman as uniquely attractive...after pondering this a bit, a light bulb went off for me....why can't WE, as women, do the same? Aaahhh...well her lies the cultural difference... Anyway, forgive my ramblings...as you can see, your book has really touched a nerve.... Brava, lovely and talented Jamie!! Merci!!! xoxoxo
Bonjour, Irina--Merci beaucoup for your lovely comments! I hope you're having a wonderful summer too. It's so fun to hear about your love of striped sailor shirts. I'd be interested to hear your story. And yes, I agree with you about the Europeans really appreciating unique beauty. Still, I believe there's hope for us here in America! :) Love, Jamie
Hello Dear Jamie! Aaahhh...I have finished the book (did not want it to end!), but will be re-reading it shortly! :) I truly believe there is hope in this country, but I think it is up to the women to take the reigns, isn't it? Once we begin to see ourselves as special and beautiful (regardless of age or shape)...unique and deserving of pleasure (in balance, of course)....the Ooh La La movement will begin! :))) I think it has already begun, in fact! Merci!!!! The striped shirts....I don't know...I think it goes back to my obsession with all things French...I was about 10 years old or so. It overtook me....I began to study the language on my own....I devoured French travel books...the birth of my Francophilia! (Is that a word?) ;) Enjoy the 4th, dear Jamie! Stars and STRIPES! :)) Love and bisous, - Irina
