French Women are Like Butterflies

French Secret #32
French Women will change with the seasons.
They'll clear out their wardrobes, perhaps buy a new lipstick, consider a new hairdo, and walk to the market, bringing home some delicious seasonable fruits.
A French Woman will welcome the autumn, inhaling the crisp air with a sense of purpose and a willingness to embrace new beginnings, new possibilities.  And transformation.

While we often talk about reinventing ourselves, our French sisters have a more organic approach to change.  They see  themselves as creatures of nature--a flower or a bird or even a butterfly and they will go about subtly transforming themselves in preparation for a new season.

And now that we are coming to the close of summer, I wonder are you in the process of a transformation?  I'd love to know!

  1. I am definitely transforming here and there this season, with warmer highlights, playing with textures and richer colors in my wardrobe, and when I have time, mixing it up by getting more social this season with fall events and wonderful literature. I'm really looking forward to autumn!

  3. This is a beautiful thought: the idea of transformation, rather than needing to self-improve or reinvent.
