French Women's Boudoirs

French Secret #44
French Women believe in keeping their bedrooms peaceful, soulful, beautiful, simple and romantic.
They won't bring electronic devices or a television set into their boudoir or anything that might distract them from a night of romance and a good night's sleep.
Of course, French Women will bring champagne into the bedroom, as well as candles and soft music to set the mood.  TrĂ©s romantique!
What do you do to keep your bedroom serene and beautiful?  I'd love to hear!

  1. That is a gorgeous picture! As for my own, I have my own room where I can retreat to during my period, or during times where I just feel like the mystery is lacking. This gives my partner and I time to miss each other and play in our own sandboxes, so to speak.

In the shared bedroom there is a lovely mantle, where candles can be safely lit, and speakers sit. We have a canopy bed covered in pretty fabric which is romantic in itself :)

I'd love to have a 'sex station' at the bedside where oils and toys and lubes are found on top of an insulated box with warm wet towels for cleanup are kept... and maybe a separate compartment for things that need to be kept cold!

Ever since I read your first book I've been pondering the endless possibilities of boudoire. I can't wait to read other's ideas!

  2. Dear Lisa--Your boudoir sounds absolutely heavenly! I love that you have your own bedroom when you need to be alone, as well as a sexy/shared bedroom--with a canopy bed (that's a dream of mine). The 'sex station' sounds very elegant and practical too! You're obviously a girl who believes in romance! Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas, and yes, I'm interested in hearing what others have to say on the subject. xo Jamie

  6. Thank you Jamie for posting such an inspiring picture. Since my divorce, I've had to get in touch with the French lady inside and with your books and blog as part of my inspiration, I am slowly transforming our former apartment into my own sanctuary with items that inspire, including my very own boudoir! I know it sounds mushy, but after a major change of life that left me unsure of myself and place, your books have inspired and helped me to rediscover myself and my space. Thank you Jamie.
