And then, came the time to wake up and take care of Papa Callan during the last year of his life. Nonetheless, I kept the writing-enchantment going.
I am always writing.
I never imagined it would be six years before I returned to my ancestral homeland--La Belle France. Honestly, I feel like Rip Van Winkle just waking up and looking around. During my long sleep, I went from a short blonde bob to long white hair. Okay, grey. And I've aged in other ways since my last visit to France, but no matter. France has probably changed during my absence too. My plan is to be open-minded and open-hearted.
I will arrive in Paris on September 19th and then two days later, take the train south to Collioure where I will be joining the one and only Karen Karbo @Karbohemia for her famous writing workshop. Oh, and the wonderful writer, Meg Wolitizer will be there too. Right now, I'm reading her latest book, The Interestings. So good! I intend to soak up the sunshine and Catalan culture. Did you know that back in the day Collioure was a happening place for all the famous artists--Picasso, Matisse, Braque, Tsuguharu Fujita and the Fauvre artists. That's because of the beautiful light, the colors, the ocean. Oh my. I must catch my breath.
And in the meantime, wish this old gal bon chance!
Creative Friends, your assignment for this week is to imagine yourself as Alice in Wonderland. You followed the white rabbit across a field, and now you have fallen down the rabbit hole. Down, down, down you went. And then, thwap! You landed in a strange new place. Open your eyes and look around. Do not take anything for granted. The world is brand new to you and it's yours to create. Anything is possible in this new place. That’s because this new place resides within you and your own imagination.
Now, take a deep breath and then step into your power.
Love,
Jamie
