Art as a Political Act

This weekend, here in America, we'll be falling back.

This is the time of year when the sun sets as early as four-thirty in the afternoon. It's also dark later in the morning and it's hard to get out from under the covers and face the day. It can be a challenge to feel inspired. Although, if you're married to someone like Dr. Thompson who brings you your coffee in bed--well, that makes life a whole lot easier!

I know, I know. I'm a lucky gal.

In terms of falling back--we are also in the middle of an important election. So much is at stake for our country and for the world. And, it's doubtful that the tension and tumult will end after the election. It might just be the beginning of the troubles.

And so, no matter what happens on Tuesday and the days that follow--you must stay strong—physically and mentally. Nurture and nourish your creative soul because we will need your voice and vision, your songs and stories and dances and sculpture and paintings—more than ever in the coming days.

Creative Friends--your assignment for this week is to look at your art as a political act.

Because, it is.

Love,

Jamie
